I find it interesting that Honey’s Mom had a blue bow and she gave Phil, her father figure in the strip, a blue tie. It may have just been coincidence, but I’m almost curious if the color wasn’t subconsciously linked in her mind to parental figures. Of course, I could be over-thinking. XD
Phil, take my advcie:
hug her, do NOT say a word. Just hug her.
Enjoy that you can touch her, and that way comfort her (a little bit).
Otherwise you did fine.
Do NOT searche the fault with you. You said what she knew has happened, and she may have wanted to hear something else, but she knew that would’ve been a lie, and in the long term this lie would have separated you two even more.
Now she has to grieve, and you can help her with that.
After that, she can move on, and will (subconsciously at least) remember that you’ve been there.
And if these thoughts don’t comfort you, Phil, remember: she’s female. There may be absolutely no reason for her to cry, and still she will.
Keep your head up, and try (despite her large size compared to your own body size) to give her a hug. Show her that you’re strong enough to help her through it all. That’s what she needs.
(And if she asks: go with her to help search for more clues and/or former rabbit holes).
AW! 🙁 Poor babies!
